BLOSSOMING
In times of hyper technology and A.I, Blossoming is sort of a tribute to Nature and natural beauty.
In this sense, it may seem that this series travels somehow in the opposite direction in relation to our present historical moment.
For me, it is more a reminder of our condition as natural beings and our dialogue with Nature as observers.
Flowers are, much more than decorative natural objects, elements through which Nature spreads and perpetuate. A perfect machinery of attraction and functionality devoted to life replication.
As part of natural world, human beings have historically felt the fascination for their beauty and diversity, making them part of their home environments, rituals, scientific interests, romantic interactions, dressing complements…
This abundance and presence all along human existence drove flowers to have an extensive presence in art history too, including a full genre of still natures with clear representatives in different moments of art history.
I would say that, in the case of my Blossoming series, my motivation for these paintings is coming through a more direct contact with Nature and mathematics and less from a historical art inspiration.
Even when I look back on those amazing artists working around the subject of flowers, my purpose stays away from those ways of taking flowers from its most, let’s say, romantic and decorative way. To the contrary, my goal is to have a new and committed look at these fascinating natural objects with the only intention of admiring their beauty and perfection, their mathematical patterns, the delicate structure of their parts, and trying to get over the traditional connotations of them.
